What will be discussed?
In this session, we'll open the floor on what's really getting in the way of inclusive recruitment in the charity sector, from qualification requirements that may be excluding strong candidates to salary constraints and traditional networks that lack diversity. We'll hear from you about which underrepresented groups are hardest to attract (and why), whether the challenge sits more in sourcing or converting diverse candidates, and how smaller charities can compete when resources are tight. We'll also explore practical changes like rethinking job adverts, improving accessibility, and equipping hiring managers to support inclusive hiring.
Please bring real examples from your experience (wins, challenges, or lessons learned) to share with the group.
We'll explore questions like these together:
- What are the biggest barriers preventing charities from achieving truly inclusive recruitment?
- Which underrepresented groups do you find hardest to attract, and why?
- How much of the challenge lies in sourcing diverse candidates versus converting them through the process?
- Are qualification requirements unintentionally excluding strong candidates?
- If you could remove one barrier from the charity recruitment landscape tomorrow, what would it be?
hireful Recruitment Roundtables
Join the conversation. Not just the call.
hireful Roundtables are free, one-hour virtual sessions for in-house recruiters and HR professionals who recruit. They are small groups, open conversations, and no presentations. Most sessions are chaired by Jess from hireful — but the value comes from the people in the room, not us.
This is not a webinar. If you’re looking for something to sit back and watch, our webinars are a better fit — hireful.com/webinars. Roundtables are interactive where the idea is everyone who attends shares.
What we ask of everyone who attends
📷 Have your cameras on.
We learn better when we can see each other. Cameras on means better discussions, stronger connections, and more value for everyone in the room. Cameras off makes it harder to connect, easier to get distracted, and the session suffers for it. We genuinely ask that you join with your camera on.
💬 Come ready to contribute.
Review the topic and questions before you join. Think about what you can bring from your own experience — wins, frustrations, things you’re still figuring out. They are no wrong answers. But the sessions are designed for all attendees to share.
🎤 Ask questions.
The chair will bring questions to the group, but we want yours too. Email jess@hireful.co.uk before the session if you’d like something raised on your behalf — or just ask on the day.
Why get involved?
In-house recruitment can be a solitary role. Finding time for your own development slips down the list fast. These sessions are one hour, free, and you pick the ones that matter to you.
- Real conversations with HR and in-house recruitment peers from the not-for-profit sector
- A delegate list after each session with LinkedIn profiles so you can keep the conversation going
- No selling, no pitching — just discussion
How it works
- Sessions run for one hour on Zoom
- Groups are kept small — usually between six and fifteen people
- Every session has a chair to steer the conversation and make sure everyone gets involved
- Discussion questions are shared in advance so you can come prepared
- A written summary report is shared with all attendees after each session
- Everyone who joins the session will be expected to share experiences and ask questions
